Global Views:
Beyond TV will host the launch of undercurrents'
latest project Global Views. This project has connected us with
campaigns and video groups across the globe. We will be maintaining
links and helping them to get their features up on line in the most
effective way we can.
Project Overview:
Award winning Undercurrents will be producing
GLOBAL VIEWS for a release later this year. A series of non-profit
programs showing direct action protest from around the world.
What are the aims of Global Views?
- To empower, build and strengthen solidarity
and networks among the world's activists
- To educate the wider public or the need
of global co-operation to bring about change
- To support world-wide mobilisation of people
on a mission to prevent further destruction to our planet
What type of
video footage is suitable?
Inspirational footage showing action taken
by people to create positive solutions and real changes in our world,
shot on camcorders by grassroots activists, community groups, students,
trade unions, campaigners...
Covering the following issues:
- the environment
- social justice
- human rights
- peace/anti-military
- animal rights
- women's issues
- anti-racism
- lesbian/gay rights
We are especially looking for videos from Africa,
Asia, Eastern Europe and Russia, but footage from all other countries
is needed too. Please inform groups and video activists in your
area about this project!
How will my campaign/organisation benefit?
All contributors whose footage is used will
receive:
- a free VHS/SVHS of the finished programmes for screening
- an on-screen credit at the end of the programme
- a link from our website to your campaign/organisation
- world-wide recognition for your country's issues
How is the project funded?
We have ethically fundraised the basic costs
to edit, produce and distribute six editions of Global Views.
How will Global Views be distributed?
Undercurrents has an international distribution
network of community and public broadcast stations, and will be
seen at many communal screenings in various countries. It will also
be shown via our internet broadcasting partner Beyond Tv - www.beyondtv.org
Do I need to send my original tapes?
Undercurrents strives for the best possible
quality. We would like your original Hi8/Video 8/SVHS or mini DV
tapes, or a high quality copy on the same format. We will then make
a copy of your tapes and return them to you. All contributors will
be given a signed agreement detailing our non-profit criteria for
use of all video footage.
What should I include with my video
tapes?
- Your name or name of campaign/organisation
- Postal address for return of your tape
- Email contact (if applicable)
- Details of the action shown on the tape(s)
- Contact details for the campaign(s) involved
